The Originals band was formed by Craig in 2010 due to a deep love and admiration for the sixties era and also an appreciation of the period shared with other band members. The decade which was the 1960s in North America and Europe saw the continued evolution of popular music which had started and gained momentum throughout the 1950s rock and roll era. Other genres of music such as psychedelic rock, blues rock and folk rock also evolved during this period. Craig had always felt that this pivotal moment for music had to be resurrected and represented for audiences today. The attraction to the sixties was not just the music, it was the feeling, the emotion, the drive and the importance. The 1960s influenced the anti-establishment cultural phenomenon of the counterculture of the 1960s. Social and political developments including the Civil Rights Movement, the Peace Movement, and other Anti-War Movements evolved. The decade was underscored by an eclectic and evocative style of music that remans as important today as it was then. The 1960’s saw artists such as The Beatles, Hollies, Herman Hermits, Merseybeats, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, Billy J Cramer, The Monkeys, and many more. These artists presented and depicted this exciting feeling and sound that was synonymous with the sixties. Many bands from the sixties had their own talents and individualities, and this knack turned out to be the essence of their artistry. The thrill and momentum wouldn’t fade and the music remained a constant surprise and delight, continually transfixing and influencing us. As The Beatles iconic work and presence harmoniously narrated our lives, many bands followed their lead into success. If you are going to copy something you may as well do it well, not just the music but try and capture the energy and this is what The Originals constantly strive for in their live shows.
